B. Clinic Formats
1. Co-Ed Touch Rugby - NO Tackle: Touch rugby is open to all boys and girls in grades 1-5. Touch rugby is a fast-paced combination of running, passing, and kicking, where every player plays both offense and defense and has the opportunity to score. Touch rugby is a great way to learn rugby fundamentals in a safe and fun environment. No experience is necessary: any beginner in grades 1-5 is always welcome.
There will be four separate clinics providing an introduction to rugby for grades 1-5 boys and girls on four Saturdays in April and May at locations to be announced.
2. Boys Tackle Rugby: Tackle rugby is offered for boys in grades 6-8. This program will introduce players to tackle rugby in a safe and progressive environment and is a great introduction to the tackle rugby played at the area’s local Catholic high schools. (Currently rugby is the fastest growing sport at Gonzaga, Georgetown Prep, St. Johns, Good Counsel, and DeMatha!) All coaches hold tackle instruction certifications from USA Rugby or England Rugby. No experience is necessary: any beginner in grades 6-8 is always welcome.
Practices will be held on Sundays in the early evening and there will be up to three live matches against other local clubs.
Soccer or football cleats and a MOUTHPIECE are required for boys tackle rugby.
Conducted clinics missed by players will not be refunded or prorated.
Additional clinic sessions may be added depending on interest.
