Cross-Country Fall 2017 Sports Registration
For girls and boys interested in running Cross-Country, during Fall 2017 the St. Jane de Chantal CYO will again be participating in a the Archdiocesan Cross-Country program.
Registration is open to any Fall 2017 Grades K-8 boy or girl who attends St. Jane School or whose parents/guardians are registered St. Jane parishioners. This year we are inviting kindergarten students to join our team. There are also two separate practice times for the different age groups so we can give more attention to all runners.

Meets on Sundays at 12:30 beginning September 10 and ending on 10/15. Championship date TBD.
Practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning September 7 (no practice on first day of school, Tuesday, September 5, because of HSA meeting):
Tuesday -- Fleming Park; 9929 Fleming Ave., Bethesda, MD 20814
Thursday -- Cedarwood Park; Corner of Gloxinia Dr. and Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda, MD 20878.
4:30-5:30 p.m. - Kindergarten-2nd grade
5:30-6:30 p.m. - 3rd-8th grade
Runners should wear lightweight or dry-fit clothing.
Proper running shoes are a must. RnJ Sports will fit young runners for shoes as well as Potomac River Running, Pacers, Road Runner Sports, and Fleet Feet.
Please bring water or a sport drink to every practice!

All are welcome. This is a good time to try out Cross Country. De Chantal runners ages K-8th grade are welcome. All summer runs will be about an hour. We will stretch, run with walk breaks, stretch, and do some strength building exercises.
Upcoming 2017 Summer Run Dates:
Tuesday, August 15: 8 and under, 4:30-5:30 p.m.; 9 and up, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Meet at the Playground at the corner of Beach Drive and Cedar Lane.
Thursday, August 17: 8 and under, 4:30-5:30 p.m.; 9 and up, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Meet on the side of Bradley Blvd. where the Cabin John Trail intersects Bradley Blvd. (a little past Seven Locks Road if going west on Bradley Blvd.; look for pull-offs on both sides of the road)
Tuesday, August 29: 8 and under, 4:30-5:30 p.m.; 9 and up, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Meet at parking lot of Bethesda Outdoor Pool off of Little Falls Parkway.
Thursday, August 31: All Ages, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Meet at Cabin John Park by the playground.

The Fall 2016 Varsity Girls and Boys and JV Girls won the city championship in their divisions. Congratulations to all.

Runners will be in six divisions:
U8 Boys and U8 Girls - 1 Mile Distance
U11 Boys and U11 Girls - 2 Mile Distance
U14 Boys and U14 Girls - 2 Mile Distance
NOTE: Beginning with Fall 2017 There Is a Change in Age Eligibility From Previous Seasons.
Age Eligibility Now Determined By Age on 8/31/2017 (not 12/31/2017)
Runner Born on 8/31/2005 So As to Be Age 12 as of 8/31/2017 Is Only Eligible as U14 Runner in His/Her Gender.
Runner Born on 9/1/2005 So As to Be Age 11 as of 8/31/2017 Is Eligible as U11 Runner in His/Her Gender, But May Choose to Run in U14 Division.
The first race of every meet begins at 12:30 with the one mile, U8 Boys race.
Most runners arrive at noon to do a course walk through, warm-up, and stretch.
U8 group will be able to race for a championship title and trophy.
Also, kindergarten students will be allowed to race the mile with the U8 group.
Please note the championship meet should not interfere with soccer playoffs this year.
